Episode 159: John Wayne Gacy: The Killer Clown

This episode is brought to you by El Yucateco

This episode of the Sofa King Podcast looks at the life of notorious party clown, painter, KFC manager, and serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. Convicted of 33 counts of murder, Gacy is known as the Killer Clown because of his hobby of dressing like Pogo the Clown at block parties.

John Wayne Gacy was the epitome of a serial killer. He was a pillar of the community, volunteering for Boy Scouts and the Jaycee organization, actively involved in politics, and a beloved party host for his neighborhood. However, on the inside, he was a roiling madman who raped teenage boys and killed them (the only hobby more disturbing than being a clown…). He was born to an abusive father, and he had trouble making friends as a child, due to multiple health problems. By the time he grew to adulthood, he was a high school dropout who ended up being a success story by attending business college and eventually running several KFC restaurants and starting his own construction company.

He had multiple failed marriages (due to his addiction to underage homosexual porno mags and massive mood swings), and while he ran the construction company, he started to let the demons out. His compulsion was to handcuff people and either strangle or suffocate them while or after raping them. Then? He’d bury them in a small crawlspace under his house (26 in all, so it got pretty crowded down there).

The really baffling thing about him was how he got away for so long. We talk about multiple examples of him kidnapping, raping, and assaulting people, plus evidence of him burying bodies and doing all manner of strange things, right in front of the cops, and never being stopped. How did he get away for so long? What are the details of his “Slave-Sex”? How did he meet one of his victims who was a pimp for under aged boy prostitutes? This one is disturbing, but if you’re into that sort of thing, listen, laugh, and learn.
